PVC wire and cable materials are composed of PVC resin, stabilizer, plasticizer, filler, lubricant, antioxidant, colorant, etc. The withstand voltage and insulation resistance of wire and cable grade PVC are relatively high, but the dielectric constant and dielectric loss are relatively large. Therefore, it is generally used as the insulation layer of low-voltage and medium-high voltage cables. PVC plastics are also widely used as sheath materials for wires and cables because of their flame retardancy, oil resistance, corona resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and good water resistance.

Cable materials belong to varieties with higher performance requirements in PVC formulas, especially electrical insulation, low temperature resistance and aging resistance. These special requirements must be considered when designing the formula. So are there certain indicators for PVC wire and cable materials?

The most important indicator of temperature resistance of PVC wire and cable materials

In addition to thermal aging, thermal weight loss is also an important indicator for temperature grade assessment of PVC wire and cable materials. Its quality can indicate whether the raw materials used in PVC cable materials of a certain temperature grade are suitable for that temperature grade. If the weight loss is too large, it means that the additives are easy to precipitate and volatilize at the use temperature, and the material is easy to become hard and brittle and lose its original performance.

If the thermal weight loss of PVC cable material at 90℃ can only meet the weight loss requirements of PVC cable material at 70℃, then there is no way to talk about 90℃ material at 90℃. 200℃ thermal stability time-the stability time of heat resistance and high temperature resistance is poor. The material is easy to produce charred materials during high temperature processing, and bubbles are easy to produce during extrusion. The aging performance of the material is seriously deteriorated after extrusion.


PVC wire and cable materials can be made into heat-resistant, cold-resistant, oil-resistant, flame-retardant, special soft and non-toxic PVC cable materials by adding special performance additives or modifiers to meet the needs of special wire and cable products.
